American and Hybrid options available. Both are improved selections of seed, coming from parents producing larger than average nuts.

Hazel is one plant with many uses. The ability to fill in gaps with suckers while producing high calorie, nutrient rich food make hazel a stellar 'Fedge' plant. Although this shrub naturally occurs as part of the woodland understory, access to full sun and a little tending make for a high production food source.
Occasional light pruning would do this plant good as hazel can tangle up on itself. Trimmings can be used to make woven fences, baskets, fuel, or animal fodder. Hazel is a high-biomass plant and makes an excellent coppice species. Naturally thicket forming, fairly fast growing. Prefers well-drained, moist soil but is adaptive. Drought tolerant. Hazel attracts wildlife and is a valuable nectar source. Dioecious, but plant more than one.
Grows 6-12' high and 6-12' width if left untended. Can coppice regularly to control size.
