A striking ‘showstopper’, suitable for a wetland edge or raingarden!

This native emergent species is usually found along coastal edges. Prefers sunny, wet and slightly acidic locations, but are adaptable.

Seed pods provide winter interest to the garden. Consider using as a living fence! Host for the lo moth. When given their ideal growing conditions, swamp rose mallow tends to be aggressive in small spaces or when intermingled with less sociable plants. The tops can flop over when in bloom.

Roots and leaves are demulcent and emollient. They can be used in tea to soothe and moisten. Flowers are edible. Pfaf.org
