Short lived, wetland perennial found in moist edges. Adaptable. Will self sow readily if planted in ideal habitat. Long, showy, purple ‘candelabra’ flowers bloom from July-September. 

All plant parts have been used medicinally. Leaves and flowers are bitter and used as a tea or tincture, nourishing to the nervous system. Seeds are edible and have been roasted and ground to a flour. Pfaf.org 

Grows in full to part sun in wet-med soil. Up to 5’ high and 1-2’ wide.
